Total Performance to Open Destination Daytona Hot Rod Showroom
A Destination in a Continuing Adventure

By: Carroll Hamilton
The Total Performance Tangerine T has been featured in national shows and automotive publications across America. It is one of many cars that will be for sale at the Grand Opening of the 'new' Total Performance Showroom in Destination Daytona.
For 35 years Mickey Lauria, the founder and president of Total Performance, Inc., has been on a fun filled, fantastic adventure. During that adventure Total Performance, a manufacturer of hot rods and supplier of hot rod parts, has grown to become one of the premier hot rod shops in the United States, delivering over 2500 turn key hot rods to satisfied customers all over the world. In 2004 Total Performance was awarded the Industry Recognition Award and in 2005 Total Performance was voted Business of the Year by the Street Rod Industry. In addition Mickey is a proud member of the Street Rod Hall of Fame.

Last year Mickey's continuing adventure brought him from Wallingford, CT, home of Total Performance, to Palm Coast, FL to escape the Northeastern winters. Not long after settling in Mickey visited Bruce Rossmeyer's Destination Daytona and the adventure took another turn. After meeting the enterprising Bruce Rossmeyer, the enterprising Mickey Lauria signed an agreement to develop a Total Performance Hot Rod Showroom at Destination Daytona. Over a year in the making, Total Performance's Destination Daytona showroom will celebrate a "Grand Opening" on March 2nd, the opening day of Bike Week 2007. The Grand Opening will continue through the big Right Coast Association car show scheduled for March 16, 17 and 18th at Destination Daytona.

The showroom will feature turn key hot rods and muscle cars. As Mickey says "there ain't no motorcycles in this store". Total Performance specializes in the infamous T Bucket Roadster, and has been leading the industry in the development of this type of hot rod for 35 years. T Buckets are, exciting, 'riding in the wind' hot rods, similar to the free spirited, in your face, ride found when cruising the highways on a motorcycle. T Buckets come in various stages of construction, from basic kits to finished cars. In addition to T Bucket Roadsters, Total Performance recently introduced the King T track roadster. The King T is an economical, entry level hot rod, with kit prices starting at $6,995.00. Kits, as well as complete hot rods and muscle cars, will be on display and for sale at the Destination Daytona showroom.

The adventures of Mickey Lauria took another turn recently when he opened Total Performance Hot Rod Parts, on US 1, just 4 miles north of Destination Daytona. After co-sponsoring the very popular Cruisin' Destination Daytona cruise in held the 3rd Saturday of each month Mickey witnessed the popularity of hot rods and muscle cars in the Daytona area. Seeing a need for a full stocking hot rod shop, Mickey stepped up and opened Total Performance Hot Rod Parts. In addition to offering customers hot rod parts from all of the major manufacturers, Mickey worked out a deal to make the full line of YearOne muscle car parts available to area enthusiasts. YearOne is the nation's number one supplier of muscle car parts and muscle cars are currently the fastest growing segment in the high performance car hobby, and the Southeast is the hot bed of muscle car mania. If you are into muscle cars, stop by and check out the YearOne line.

At 66 years old Mickey says he continues to have fun and his adventure is just beginning as he is looking forward to filling the needs of all of the area's car enthusiasts.

Destination Daytona is located at US 1 and I-95, Exit 273. For further information (386) 437-996

Racin' and Cruisin' at Destination Daytona
By: Carroll Hamilton
Images by: Lou DiPietro
The popular monthly Cruisin' Destination Daytona had an added spectator flare as many racing fans in the area for Speedweeks dropped in to check out Bruce Rossmeyer's Destination Daytona, and were treated to the added bonus of a big time car show.

Live music filled the air; rods, customs, and specialty cars of all types cruised the grounds; the food court was hopping; the restaurants were serving; and a good time was being had by all.

Vintage race cars were in town for the annual Living Legends of Auto Racing 'Beach Parade' and the annual 'Beach Racing at the Lighthouse' events. Many of these fantastic replicas found their way to Destination Daytona and added even more variety to the many cars on hand.

Next month, March 16th, 17th and 18th, cars from up and down the East coast and from throughout the Southeast will converge at Destination Daytona, as The Right Coast Association will host the biggest car show and party to hit the East coast. Total Performance will be giving away a King T body package, while some lucky participant will walk off with a 400 HP crate engine supplied by YearOne. In addition Wild Rod Factory will be giving away one of their Phantom '37 Ford coupe bodies, and you can qualify to win the Right Coast give away car - an American Graffiti '32 Coupe built by New Age Motorsports.

And if all of that is not enough, Total Performance will be celebrating the "Grand Opening' of their Destination Daytona show room.

The monthly Cruisin' Destination Daytona will start up again the third Saturday in April from 6 until it is over.

An Aqua, 'flip top', big Bird, with wires and wide whites sure makes you want to cruise in the Florida sunshine.
Under the hood of Barry Roy's modified '37 Ford you will find three Strombergs on a 276 cubic inch Flathead. Barry trailered down from MA.
This '67 Camaro RS drop top was looking good. Big tires, big motor, and a roll bar all say Pro Street.
After restoring this mid-fifties Dodge to show room condition a roll bar was installed and it was lettered and trimmed out to reproduce Lee Petty's beach ride.
Pro-street Camaros are a popular breed and this blown big-block powered '67 RS is as straight as any we have seen. If you paint one black like this one it just has to be straight to show off the paint.
The beach racing crowd had their eye on this slick '38 Ford coupe. It wouldn't take much to turn this beauty into one of those beach racing replicas.

This small block Chevy powered, custom, 1950 Jeep wagon, drew a crowd. Decked out in "resale" red this was one fine wagon.
Not all race cars on hand were of the 'roundy-round' variety. How about a Sox and Martin Plymouth drag racer?
Not all three window coupes are Fords. How about a Chevy in a Chevy?
